Devonte Hynes and Philip Glass

Funny how things come into view when we are open to seeing them.
I happened across this NPR Music snippet after I clicked on a facebook notification about a Lucinda Williams Tiny Desk Concert.
I can relate to most of it, so I figure it is worth a share.

Now back to watch the Lucinda Williams Tiny Desk Concert. Someday I'll tell you the backstory about that time I entered the Tiny Desk Concert. It's more interesting than the actual performance, imho.

Best,
Mari

Promiseland

Something I feel like sharing. Again, Willie gets it long before most of the rest of the world.

Have a great day.
Hope to see you at Bear Music Fest this weekend.

CALL TO ACTION : Net Neutrality Comments Needed Now

Dear Readers:
In case you missed it, July 12th was a Day of Action for Net Neutrality. You can learn more by searching "day of action net neutrality" or "net neutrality" or "net neutrality bill" or something to that effect. Wired and Mashable have some good articles/online posts about it.
I cannot stress enough how important it is that each of us takes a moment to make a comment in favor of preserving net neutrality.
To do so, please visit this link, click on + Express and fill out the form, including the comment section. Please use your real name and contact information.
I sent in my comment. Here is my confirmation:
------ Forwarded message ----------
From: <no-reply@fcc.gov>
Date: Jul 12, 2017 9:05 AM
Subject: FCC ECFS Filing Confirmation
Thank you for your submission to the FCC Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS).
Please Note that your filing will not be available for searching until it has been reviewed and posted by the FCC.
 Confirmation Number: XXXXXXXXXX
Proceeding(s): 17-108 : Restoring Internet Freedom
Filer(s): Mari Tamburo
Brief Comments: Net neutrality is crucial to the health and wealth of our society because people from all walks of life have gifts to share with the world and we have much to teach and learn from each other. A free and open internet makes this possible. Please preserve net neutrality
_______
Admittedly, it's not the most eloquent example of my writing, but it makes a clear statement that I want to protect net neutrality.
All efforts do not have to be perfect, but we do need to make them.
Thanks in advance for not being "silent in the shadows."
Best Regards,
Mari

Hello Again,
Hope this email finds you well. The news is giving me the blues, so I'm grateful that I get to sing tonight. We have a special guest on the drum throne tonight, Adam "Bagel" Berkowitz! He's a great guy and a solid drummer.
For my fiscally challenged friends, use the promo code MOM when ordering your tickets amd buy yourself some tacos. They are pretty tasty!

Saturday, February 18th

Hello Everyone!
Hope this email finds you well and happy or at least not stressing about things you cannot control. Keep sending those cards, letters and calls to our elected representatives. They do need feedback! Besides, it makes you feel as if you at least tried. At times like these, I go to the Serenity Prayer or to one of my favorite Dalai Lama quotes: "If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever."
Dalai Lama XIV
If you are in the Mill Valley area and looking for something to do on Saturday, February 18th,  Head on over to the Throckmorton for the Mill Valley Music's 9th anniversary show. I'm joining the All Stars for a couple of tunes.
We are performing The Last Waltz, so I'll be digging deep for Mavis' parts in "The Weight" and Levon's licks in "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."
If last night's rehearsal is any indication, we are all in for a treat. Such great tunes and nice people.
Jeffrey Halford is also a special guest and I'm sure I'm leaving someone out. Apologies in advance if that is the case.
Mill Valley Music All Stars are Gary Scheunstuhl, Austin DeLone, Don Zimmer, Neal McDonald, Jesse Kincaid, Cole and Mikki Tate.
And of course, we have the Marinfidels rockin' classically in the first set.
Hope you can join us.
Ox,
Mari

February 1 at The Fenix

Sing along to the song. Jackson and I made this video. Hope it helps. Not the best quality, but it's kind of cool the the sun starts to shine on my face at a significant moment in the lyric.
Anyway, I thought it was serendipitous.

Hope to see you at the Fenix. Or online!

"We won’t be silent in the shadows..."

I have to share this post that Dan Rather published on facebook.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158129266630716&id=24085780715

As disheartening as current events are, it is my firm belief that worldwide, a sleeping giant is indeed awakening.

Indivisible

Hi All,
Felt the need to express something in song. It's kind of a march, so we send this out to all the people with courage to march for peace, justice and the health of mother earth.
Ox,
Mari
Indivisible
Tamburo copyright 2017*

We won’t be silent in the shadows
We won't be driven to despair
We'll bring the light wherever we go
Protect the water and the air
We are, we are, we are indivisible
We walk along oceans and prairies
We are, we are, we are indivisible
Together our voices will carry
And as we gather, old and young
Growing in numbers day by day
Joining our hands and hearts as one
We stand in unity and say,
"We are, we are, we are indivisible
Free to choose who we love
Free to marry
We are, we are, we are indivisible
Together our voices will carry
We are, we are, we are indivisible
We walk along oceans and prairies
We are, we are, we are, indivisible
Together our voices will carry
Together our voices will carry
Together our voices will carry..."

* I wrote the melody and lyrics, offered songwriting credit to Jackson ( guitar player) as I felt he helped me bring the song to life. He agreed at first, then declined. As is often the case, there to the story, but I'm saving the details for a book.)
