Music and Me
I've been a singer for most of my life, many live performances.
My first recording was at about 2 years old, singing "Jingle Bells"on an old four track that my dad bought from Les Paul himself. I remember him telling me the story of how his friend, Tony Simonetti, brought him to Les Paul's house, and that usually involved the retelling of the history of Les Paul and Mary Ford. I remember being sad when I found out they (Les Paul and Mary Ford) got divorced.
Most of the time (these days) when I make music, I go by the name Mari Mack - It was a nickname that stuck.
I play in San Francisco with my soulful blues band, Mari Mack & Livin' Like Kings, at least once a month at The Saloon, 1232 Grant Avenue, San Francisco. No cover, 21+ only, one drink minimum.
We are available to play more often, time and schedule permitting. Most of the band members stay close to home (just north of San Francisco) and are pretty busy working in occupations that have a more steady income stream. That is the state of the industry these days, unless you want to play in a tribute band. No offense to tribute bands - I understand it's all about the songbook. We play cover tunes in tribute to all the Kings when we play The Saloon (Albert, BB, and Freddie, and Carole, etc...)
