ART

Art is essential for life.

Music is my main art form. More about that can be found HERE.

Backstory:

I have always created art and been crafty, ever since I was a kid. I won a few awards in school, and was all set to go to art school after high school, but fate had other plans. Basically, my mom was full of fear about it. It's a long story. I can't even begin to articulate that time in my life because it was a really painful time. I went from being a straight A student to almost not graduating high school, as my younger sister and I had no parents living in our household, and two older siblings struggling with substance abuse. Every day, I lived in fear of social workers coming to split us up.

To this day, I'm working through my various adverse childhood experiences through art and music, via stops and starts, peaks and valleys of surviving and thriving.

I don't share this information for sympathy, but to let you know that if you are experiencing something similar, that you are not alone...

Bear in mind that we all have good and bad days, each day has darkness and light, etc. (Insert your favorite fancy quote here.)

Art Associations:

Artist in Residence at Maker Faire 2013 and 2014 : I loved this experience, as I met some wonderful people, and made some fun signs to help direct attendees of the Maker Faire.

Artista: This is an inspirational group, mostly comprised of creatives who hung around San Francisco during its peace and love heyday. Honey Green (RIP) honored me with an Artista patch several years back. My goal is to attach it to a jacket or another article of clothing by Artista Gathering of the Tribes 2026, at which time I expect to be properly introduced to the "gang."

Artsboretum: This is a project I founded out of The Plant Studios around the same time I started A Vehicle for Change. It's my blog for sharing news about artistic endeavors, both mine and those who share my core values of creativity and kindness to people, animals and planet. It is a living, breathing thing.

Community Built Association: an amazing group of artists who concentrate on public art projects and community built placemaking spaces. I first volunteered for this organization in 2005, when they needed help with a/v equipment. They host a conference every two years - next conference is April 2026 in Atlanta.

Marin Society of Artists: I joined the Marin Society of Artists in July 2021, and took residence in a studio which flooded a few times. So, since moving to another studio in that building was not an option, I moved to another studio on Mark Drive. If you would like to visit me there,  please contact me to set up an appointment.

I am in the (slow) process of working on a 3D memoir project, formerly known as "landfill diversion arts project." If you want to help support that project, please contact me to discuss how!

to be continued....
