I need your help to get on the ballot and to help spread the word.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Today is the deadline to turn in all signatures on the "Petition in Lieu of Filing Fee" forms!
Thanks to the neighbors who signed (and a few who collected signatures) for me.
Interesting to note: Filing fee is $1133.60 - each signature is worth .25 - it would take approximately 4535 signatures to make the fee.
That is more than half of the votes received by the District 4 incumbent (Steve Kinsey) in the last election. Plus, given that District 4 is spread so far and wide, it would have cost more $ to drive all over to collect signatures than hold a FUNdraiser.
So - hope to see you on March 5th some time between NOON and 2:00 pm at the FIRESIDE - 115 Shoreline Highway, Mill Valley.
Parking is limited, so please walk, bike, bus or carpool.
ox,
Mari

Musings : February 22, 2016 : Theme Song #2
Hey All!
Hope you are having a great Monday! I just jumped back in the house to write you a quick update on what's going on in my neck of the woods.
Looks as if we have a lot of people interested in the District 4 Supervisor seat - so far, it's me, three guys in blazers with the obligatory flag pin and the co founder of Safe Routes to Schools - yes, the very same SR2S that awarded $900,000 to an application full of misrepresentations and forced that million dollar four block concrete slab onto our semi rural street so a private commuter school could try to coax their clients to walk four blocks!
We have had five accidents on the street since they forced that "safer route" onto a street that used to have a perfect safety record.
You can't make this stuff up, people!
Anyway, I'm in crunch mode for fundraising. If you want to support my candidacy and need to use paypal, please do it today, because there is a three day wait to transfer funds into my campaign account and the kind man from the Elections Office told me that the fees are due on the 25th. (Update : fees are due March 16th.)
http://www.maritamburo.com/2016/02/donate-to-campaign-fund.html
I've read the Campaign Guide and can find nowhere that says the filing fees are due this Thursday, it says the deadline is March 11th ( March 16th if the incumbent is not running - and he is not.)
Working to gather cash and checks from my neighbors, because the way I see it, unless I have their support, there is no point in running, now is there?
This isn't about me, it's about our neighborhood having a say in how things are run around here. I'm not out to vilify anyone who thought they were doing a good thing - I'm hip to the whole political / bureaucracy BS - I just would like a chance to get inside the cage and put all this knowledge and these ideas to practical use. I have this knack for assessing a situation and creative troubleshooting and I care about people - it seems a good fit. I never claimed to have all the answers, but I do have a large network of trained and experienced people to ask. County staff needs support to do their jobs. We shouldn't have to hire so many outside consulting firms just to do surveys.
Anyway, have to go - some neighbors are coming by to pick up petitions.
Here's my Theme Song #2 : written in 2011, first released in 2014 - but that is another story...
ox,
Mari
p.s. Filing fees are 1133.60 -
and cost for Candidate statement is $320 English only, $740 English and Spanish

Theme Song : Magic Penny
I've decided this is my theme song - not only for my campaign for Supervisor, but for my life.
https://marimack.bandcamp.com/track/a-vocal-valentine-magic-penny-love-is-something-solo-acapella
I chose to sing it a capella and purposely played with the tempo.
Feel free to share.
I'm still in fundraising mode for the filing fee $1133.60 plus whatever the cost is going to be for my campaign statement and will be collecting signatures and/or campaign donations this week.
Please call 415-789-6274 to set up an appointment.
For the record, here is where I stand on a few issues. Anyone who has a question
1) Yes to water conservation. Moratorium on new water hookups - this will curb development and cause us all to get more creative with existing structures for new housing.
2) Moratorium on impervious pavements; start a program to remove excess impervious pavements, starting in areas near local creeks. This will create jobs and reduce flash flooding. It will also improve the health of our creeks. That is a win win for humans and wildlife.
3) Repair and maintain the roads we already have before building any new roads.
4) Respect our local community plans and do not engage in any work that conflicts with them.
5) Yes to medical marijuana (and recreational marijuana, actually.)
6) Protect our coast.
I promise to listen to you and I will never lie to you.

Campaign Update, Coastal Commission Update
Campaign Update :
Thanks for your words of encouragement and donating to the campaign fund! We are already at 25% toward the $1133.60 filing fee not counting the signatures (which are worth a whopping 25¢ each!) Anything over the filing fee will be spent on getting the word out and traveling expenses all over District 4, which covers a very large area.
If you have any questions, please send them my way - just call and leave a message : 415-789-MARI (6274) and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
More musings on that : http://www.marimackmusic.com/2016/02/musings-2112016.html
Coastal Commission :
I spent the majority of yesterday riveted on the Coastal Commission Meeting which resulted in the firing of the Executive Director, Dr. Lester :

Hope you enjoy your day (and thanks in advance for using your powers for good.)
